| ..sorry hit send too fast. the car did the sudden death prior to anyone messing with wiring during alarm install. after alarm install the car started fine several times, about an hour later, when I started it up it ran about a minute then sputtered and quit. Alarm and co. did come right back and restored to stock wiring as soon as I called them, within 2 hours they took a ferry and showed up. Nice folks, just a hard car to work on. ORANGE WIRE MYSTERY I am seeing two orange wires in a harness near the fuse box under the hood: one is orange with a grey stripe, and the other looks almost identical, but the stripe appears to be silver or very close to grey. Not sure if these somehow got switched? They are both cut and respliced. Yah, tedious is the word, Doug, man it sure is. Makes me want to junk the car, but I still would then not know what caused it. :running and would then shut down, the car would not start until the PTU :cooled down. This usually took 15 or more minutes, not seconds. :Based on what you've posted in the past, your problem likely stems from a :wiring problem with the alarm installation and not PTU failure as you don't :have those symptoms. Not knowing exactly what was done all bets are off :on what the problem is. :You can refer to the ECU pin out diagram in the manual, section EFEC :near the back, pg. 172- 177 (I believe I posted the link to the online manual :for you in an earlier post) and start testing continuity to the various :components from the ECU to try and narrow down if you got a problem :with the signal not getting through. A tedious process to say the least. :However, if it was me I would call the company out who installed the alarm :and have them put the car back to stock where the car ran normally and :have them start over. Since you didn't have the problem prior to them :working on the car and now you do it obviously points to something they :did when working on it. :Good luck. : :
